Feasibility study for a contemporary new build house

We were asked to design a new build house which is 'green' and sympathetic to it's site. The site is on the World Heritage Coast in Dorset and so is environmentally sensitive. The steep sloping nature of the site enables us to dig the property into the hillside, allowing the North side to be sheltered and highly insulated, whilst the South face is largely glazed for maximum passive solar gain. Thick internal masonry walls allows the energy to be stored and evens out temperature changes. Attention has been paid to using natural materials and natural colours to blend with the surroundings plus a green roof is proposed to aid insulation and slow water run-off.
